![]() ![]() Xbox recently acquired a lot of great gaming studios, and now owns a total of 23 studios, so the coming years should be better in terms of first-party titles (and all of them will be available to play on day 1 on Game Pass Ultimate). The PS5 only allows the use of PS4 controllers when playing PS4 games. The Xbox Series X will be fully backwards compatible with controllers from the last generation of Xbox, so you won’t have to buy new and expensive extra controllers if you already own the previous controllers (or buy them for cheaper if you don’t). Microsoft has a better backwards compatibility story (see this for details). For the price of two new titles, you’ll be able to play a large collection of games and all of Microsoft’s first-party titles for 3 years! You can currently take advantage of the Gold to Game Pass Ultimate 1-1 conversion to get Game Pass Ultimate for 3 years for about 120$ instead of 540$ (see this for details about the conversion). All of Microsoft’s first-party titles are expected to be available on Game Pass on day 1. It has a large collection of games available to play (on both Xbox and PC) for a monthly fee. Game Pass Ultimate is extremely good value. Roughly 30% more raw compute power, meaning 3rd party games are likely to run with better resolution or frame rates. I'd also like to hear what other factors did YOU take into consideration when making your own decision. ![]() I made this list to help myself and my friends to make a conscious decision based on what’s important to us, not to spark the dreaded “Console War” discussion. It should be noted that I’m probably biased in favour of the Xbox Series X, which is my personal choice. In this post, I’ll list the strengths of both consoles, which I’ve taken into account when making my own decision. ![]()
