Our oldest son and his family continues to work where I once did with his Family. God has blessed me beyond measure in my hearing loss. Through the many things we have endured as a couple. To this day, I count her as my dear friend. We had to downsize from a three bedroom two bath to one bedroom one bath. No longer able to keep our three bedroom two bath villa. Wonderful Church Family, We’ve both had good paying jobs. The loss didn’t hinder me to reach others for Christ. In 1994, I began experiencing hearing loss. I know God used my life to reach children and parents to know Him in a personal way. Afterwards, I worked in our Christian School as Extended Da圜are Teacher for over twenty years. I took care of friends’ children in our home for four and half years. It was a drastic change getting to learn people and their ways. Coming to the city life gave me a culture shock. I was a stay at home Mom until the boys seemed comfortable living in FL. Being settled in our home, attending a Church close by and boys going to School. Later, his Mom brought the boys to us once we got settled into our home. I rode Trailways down to Pompano Beach, FL. They were almost four and nine years of age.įinally, the day came when the boys stayed with Mike’s parents. The boys were from his previous marriage. I stayed in Kentucky for five months with our Sons. He had received a call stating a job was waiting for him in Pompano Beach, FL. Though we lived in the country for two more years. It wasn’t until I married my husband, Mike. We cooked meals for the hired hands working in tobacco. Then my oldest sister, Janice and I had responsibilities of house chores and cooking. Mom did most of the cooking until she began working. If not, the weeds would take over the planted vegetables. Especially, in the evening when it was cooler. The garden itself was daily work for all. Though our Family had always put out a garden. You name it! There were always plenty to do on the farm. Milking cows, working in hay, mowing grass, feeding the cows. The boys worked outdoors on the farm with Dad. The girls helped Mom with housecleaning and cooking. ![]() Dad made it clear work had to be done before play times. We had plenty of siblings around our home to play games. Our shoes were taken off to go bare footed. One pair to wear to Church and the other pair was for wearing to school.Īfter those two occasions. We each were gifted with two pairs of shoes per year. The girls had homemade dresses and hand me downs. Dad and Mom went to the local country clothing store and bought jeans for the boys. Having many beautiful memories to treasure of my youth! Though in my youth there were no getting out of chores. I was born and raised in Kentucky for twenty-one years. ![]()
